Faubourg Tremé: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans
A film by Dawn Logsdon & Lolis Eric Elie
We're thrilled to announce a SNEAK PREVIEW of Faubourg Tremé: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans
A documentary by Dawn Logsdon and Lolis Eric Elie
There will be two screenings at Canal Place Cinema on Sunday, October 14 (5 pm & 7 pm) in conjunction with the New Orleans Film Society.
Film Description:
Think you know New Orleans history? Well, think again. Faubourg Tremé: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans is a fascinating look at one of our city's most fascinating neighborhoods. Journey with writer Lolis Eric Elie as he uncovers Treme's mysterious and forgotten past.
Long ago, this place was home to the most prosperous and politically active black community in America. Here black and white, free and enslaved, rich and poor co-habitated, collaborated, and clashed to create much what defines our city today. Drawing on footage shot before Hurricane Katrina and much never before seen archival footage, Faubourg Treme is a riveting tale of hope, heartbreak, and
endurance.
For those of you who will be in town, we'd love to see you there. If not, please help us spread the word and forward this on to your friends.
All tickets on sale today
$7.00 for New Orleans Film Society members, and $8 for non-members
Tickets for Canal Place screenings on sale at www.moviefone.com or at the box office.
A co-production of Serendipity Films, LLC, WYES-TV12, and Louisiana Public Broadcasting in association with Independent Television Services, National Black Programming Consortium. We mourn the loss of a friend

Timecode: NOLA mourns the loss of our friend and colleague, Helen Hill,
who was brutally murdered on Jan 4, 2007.
Helen was an inspiration to us. Her dedication to the craft of filmmaking and her passion to share her knowledge was staggering. Nothing we can say can make it better or bring her back. So, go do as Helen would...Follow your soul, follow your heart, and follow your dreams. She will be missed dearly.
Thank you to all that came to Mi Mi's!
It was quite an event, for those that didn't make it we even got raided by the police! The electricity in the whole neighborhood went down, but I must say the crowd was great. Thanks to Sarah, Paul & Mi Mi for all the help, and to all the filmmakers and viewers that came out.
